Three Must Have Mac Apps For the System Administrators

The OS X is very famous among system administrators. It’s a Unix based operating system, and has all the flexibility we have come to expect from the Unix, with some added advantages of being found on top quality hardware with the user interface that is often very easy to get along with than defaults found on the Linux. The Linux system admins will get themselves at the home on Macs; the command line not more than a click away, and there’s a large range of high quality applications for the system administration, comprising paid for the proprietary apps, free as in beer apps, and correctly open source applications.

We are going to have a peek at Three Must Have Mac Apps which we find essential for handling servers and networks from our OS X devices.

TextMate

There’re many fine text editors you may find available for the Mac, comprising the venerable BBEdit, and it's free little bro TextWrangler, and the Sublime Text, but our beloved is TextMate, that has everything you want for the system administration tasks.

Homebrew

One thing system administration similar to the Linux will miss on the OS X is a good package manager, the Mac AppStore in no way changes a package manager. The Homebrew brings much of package management goodness of the Yum or the Apt, get to the OS X command line.

iTerm

The iTerm is a terminal emulator which rivals any you will find on  the Linux for the features. The iTerm uses Cocoa API because it has the look and feel of the modern OS X apps and fits in accurately on the desktop. The iTerm supports drag & drop tabs that can now be moved between the Windows, full-screen windows for the distraction free command line work, bookmarks to record frequently used SSH and FTP sessions, and happy news for the Linux users, simply choose to copy and middle mouse click pasting.
