Have you just bought a new MacBook? If so, the Apple announces something for you; the SMC updates. There are 3 different updates for MacBook Pro, Retina MacBook Pro and MacBook Air.
First off, let’s have a talk about SMC update v1.9 for MacBook Air that was released in the 2012 & 2013. It solves a rare problem where your battery doesn’t work, the system stops working when you don’t have sufficient battery.
The SMC Firmware update 1.7 for non Retina MacBook Pro devices announced since 2012. The Apple states that this update resolves a rare problem where the battery has 1000 charge cycles stops working or shuts down.
The SMC update v1.1 for only Retina MacBook Pro might be limited to 504KB , but it resolves some problems, comprising power nap bug fixes and a rare problem that relates slow frame rates in the games on the 15 inch model.
All of theses updates can be achieved by simply using above mentioned links or by running software update.
