A month back, Apple announced its new operating systems for both desktop and mobile platforms, the OS X Yosemite and iOS 8 respectively. Both of them are scheduled to be coming later this year. With the arrival of new operating systems, there’re some things that won’t be seen any longer. It’s said that Photos, Apple’s new photo-editing app introduced at WWDC, will replace both Aperture & iPhoto.
Here’s a statement from Apple elaborating Photos app:
"With the introduction of the new Photos app and iCloud Photo Library, enabling you to safely store all of your photos in iCloud and access them from anywhere, there will be no new development of Aperture. When Photos for OS X ships next year, users will be able to migrate their existing Aperture libraries to Photos for OS X."
With the arrival of Photos app, users will be able to back up their photos with Apple’s iCloud. They can edit, search and store photos through the cloud service on iDevices. But unfortunately, there won’t be any professional-like tools available in Photos app compared to Aperture.
Those who aren’t happy with this Apple’s move can rely on other software like Final Cut Pro, Logic and Lightroom that might fill the gap. But iPhone users will better get going with Photos app as many seem unhappy with iPhoto.
