There’re few things that touch us on a regular daily basis more than the weather. Just ask anyone who has forgotten to take a raincoat on a rainy day and you’ll see what I mean. If you’re looking for a latest app to help you track temperature on the Mac, then you should go for the Weather Live from Apalon.
Like the most other weather apps, the Weather Live is partially about the looks. The weather info is presented politely in a dashboard style layout with the time and date in the center. A moving background showcases the recent situations. It also supports the multiple cities so that you can easily travel from one city to another one with the simple tap. You can rearrange the list of cities, letting you put your beloved locations at the top.
If you do not like this look, you can also switch to the dashboard with the just recent conditions or an all text view which dumps the dashboard appearance and changes it with the text. In this text only view, the background weather photos really shine through. No problem what kind of view you select, the app shows the recent temperature as the badge on icon in the dock. It is a nice touch which allows you to see the outside temperature, no need to open the app.
There were rare quirks with the app which I met while using it. First, the badge on the dock vanished intermittently and I had to toggle it off and then on again to get it to reemerge. I observed that the expected weather forecast was showed with the low temperature 1st followed by the high (33°F/65°F), instead of (65°F/33°F).
Weather Live landed on AppStore today. It is available for only US$2.99 and is worth the money if you’re eyeing for a good looking weather app to swiftly check the recent conditions or the upcoming prediction.
