Apple's new Mac OS X Yosemite

Apple on June 2 announced the new version of its desktop operating system, the OS X Yosemite together with iOS 8 at its annual WWDC in San Francisco. The new operating system comes with a host of new features and some improvements as well. It brings a new look similar to iOS 7. Anyhow, the new operating system is due for the final release late this year.

Initially, it is available for the developers under the build number of 14A238x. They can get OS X Yosemite beta through Mac Dev Center or Software Update in the Mac App Store. Here’re the devices that support OS X v10.10 Developer Preview:

  • Mac Mini (Early 2009 or later)
  • MacBook (Early 2009 or advance)
  • iMac (Mid 2007 or higher)
  • MacBook Air (Late 2008 or advance)
  • MacBook Pro (Mid/late 2007 or later)
  • Mac Pro (Early 2008 or higher)
  • Xserve (Early 2009)

If you are not a registered developer and want to get your hands on the latest OS X Yosemite, then say thanks to Apple that’s giving you a chance to test OS X Yosemite Beta first time ever. It provides free registration to 1 million users who come through its sign up program. So, don’t waste time and get registered before this offer gets expired. Use that link to sing up for Apple’s Beta program.

‘’To join the OS X Beta Program, just sign up using your Apple ID. When the beta software is ready, you’ll receive a redemption code that will allow you to download and install OS X Yosemite Beta from the Mac App Store. Then go ahead and start using it. When you come across an issue that needs addressing, report it directly to Apple with the built-in Feedback Assistant application.’’

Though, Apple hasn’t mentioned any specific date for the Beta download so far. But, you’ll get notified by an email if you got registered through Apple sign up program.
