On Wednesday, Apple released an upgrade to the Safari web browser for its desktop operating system such as Mavericks, Lion and Mountain Lion. The Safari 7.0.4 for OS X 10.9, and the version 6.1.4 for OS X 10.8 and OS X 10.7, fixes different security issues and vulnerabilities.
Here’s what Apple update notes say;
Multiple memory corruption issues existed in WebKit. These issues were addressed through improved memory handling.
An encoding issue existed in the handling of unicode characters in URLs. A maliciously crafted URL could have led to sending an incorrect postMessage origin. This issue was addressed through improved encoding/decoding.
For your information, the recent Safari update comes after the release of Mac OS X 10.9.3 a week ago. The OS X 10.9.3 brought Safari 7.0.3 to the users who hadn’t previously updated.
All the users can get the update through Software Update section in the Mac App Store, or they can download it manually following the links given below. Each of them covers around 50MB.
