There were some rumors saying Apple pretends to release a cheaper iMac model a few days ago. But now, we come to know those rumors were true. Today, Apple has officially released a cheaper iMac with low-end features. The new model of iMac boasts a 1.4GHz Dual-core Intel Core i5 processor together with 8GB of RAM and 500GB hard drive. It is priced at $1099.
The new device is $200 cheaper than the previous model (21.5-inch, 2.7GHz), which was supposed to be the low-end machine before. There’s no change in the design but specs wise, the new machine is far feeble than its pervious base model.
For just $200 savings, you’ll downgrade from high-end device to low-end device. With $1,299 model, you get 1TB hard drive that’s reduced into 500GB in $1099 model. Anyhow, RAM remains the same. Graphics also has been downgraded in the new model. Other specs of the ‘’perfect entry-level Mac desktop’’ (Apple touted the machine in the press release) include – Wi-Fi 802.11ac, 2 Thunderbolt ports, 4 USB v3.0 ports, iWork suite of Numbers, Pages and Keynote, iLife featuring iPhoto, iMovie and GarageBand.
The new iMac comes equipped with OS X Mavericks that can be updated to the latest OS X Yosemite for free later this year. It’ll be available at Apple’s online store, authorized resellers and Apple retail stores.
